When Blackfriars Priory School included an early learning facility to the college they confidently engaged Betterland for a complete exterior play space design and construction.
Betterlands design was chosen in preference to alternative designs as it incorporated an excellent range of play and learning environments strategically placed throughout the yard to maximise the open play area and enable safe pedestrian access to all areas.
The multipurpose timber play station incorporated a cubby house, double slide with a landing and a low deck with rails to attach portable climbing equipment.
As with all Betterlands constructions the play structure was built with a strong focus on quality workmanship and compliance to the Australian Standards for Playgrounds.
Nearer the building is custom redgum bench seating for outdoor reading and teaching activities.
The rubber surfaced bike track encircles the open grassed area and creates access to the digging patch and sand pit.
The sandpit is sheltered with one of Betterlands custom all weather pergolas.
Throughout this playspace the children enjoy the many aspects of playing in and around natural elements which include sand, water, bush rocks, sandstone, dirt, timber logs, and a variety of sensory shrubs grasses and trees.
The end result is a very open planned play space which supports a diverse range of learning environments and physical activities. The development is very much an asset to the children, the staff, the school and its surrounds.
