Burnside Primary consulted Betterland with the proposal to develop a section of the school grounds which lacked play value. The area was mainly void other than two separate sand pits and shade structures.
Burnside Primary’s ideal for this area was to have a multiuse playspace with a strong ‘Natureplay’ theme. Betterlands design created exactly this. The design aimed to capture the fundamentals of nature with a range of natural materials and interpretive features found in nature whilst providing play and learning diversity.
A unique area for free construction using natural materials was created which included construction prop poles and a storage rack
Construction began prior to the school holidays and was complete for the children returning for term 4.
The finished project has generated immense interest from children of all age groups including staff and parents and created a much improved street appeal of Burnside Primary.
As the school principal expressed “You have far exceeded our expectations, not only of the finished project but also in your timeliness in completing the works”.
